Teny Geragos is a trial attorney at the New York-based boutique criminal defense firm, Brafman
& Associates, P.C. Her practice area ranges from state criminal cases to complex federal matters and federal appeals.
Ms. Geragos also publishes and speaks on various legal topics. She co-authored an article for Los Angeles County Bar Association’s Magazine, Los Angeles Lawyer titled “Reevaluating Gag Orders in the Era of Social Media.” Recently, she spoke at the National Trial Lawyers Summit in Florida on the topic of jury selection and the pitfalls of using social media during the process. She has also been a panelist at the Louisiana State Bar Association’s Complex Litigation Symposium and at the National Board of Trial Advocacy All Star Conference. During law school, Ms. Geragos was also a featured panelist at Loyola Law School’s 2015 Gang Symposium where she presented on how to use the California appellate decisions to throw out gang enhancements that add years to defendants’ sentence.
While in law school, Ms. Geragos externed for District Court Judge Michael W. Fitzgerald in the Central District of California and Justice John Ingram in the Supreme Court of New York in Kings County. She also clerked at the District Attorney’s Office in Los Angeles, where she conducted preliminary hearings. In 2015, Ms. Geragos clerked at the Legal Aid Society in the Bronx where she successfully defended cases.
Teny Geragos is a native of Los Angeles who lives in New York. She is admitted to the California and New York State Bars, as well as the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York.
She received her Bachelor’s Degree from New York University and her Juris Doctor from Loyola Law School of Los Angeles.
